Have you got a chance to project any of your works in a seminar and unfortunately you have a problem with your projector or don’t have a projector at all? Well, I would say it’s a nightmare for you’ll.

Did a thought rise in your mind that “God…why can’t I project the presentations from my mobile ….?” If yes , then you landed on correct runway.

Hello Everyone!! In this blog we will see how phones can be made into projectors. Excited….? Let’s first go with the introduction.

INTRODUCTION

Mobile phones with projectors is something that doesn’t come on often. But when it comes, it’s great companion for people such as teachers, motivational speakers, etc to have. It is highly convenient, powerful and reliable tool for conducting presentations.

But what is the feature or technology behind ? Here comes into the picture “The Integrated Pico Projectors”. These are also known as “Handheld projectors”. Pico projectors use either an LED or laser light source which effectively eliminates the need for lamp replacement over the useful life of a Pico.

It is an image projector in a handheld device. It was developed as a computer display device for compact portable devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants, and digital cameras, which have sufficient storage capacity to handle presentation materials.

Pico projectors are increasingly being embedded in consumer electronic devices, such as mobile phones (e.g., LG Expo and Samsung Galaxy Beam) and digital cameras(e.g., Nikon Coolpix s1000pj).

The system comprises five main parts: the battery, the electronics, the laser or LED light sources, the combiner optic, and in some cases, scanning micromirror devices.

APPLICATIONS:

Three major image technologies for these projectors are commonplace:

  • Texas Instruments’s Digital Light Processing (DLP)
  • MicroVision, Inc.’s laser beam-steering (LBS)

Here I would also like to list out various devices available in market which use this Pico Projection technology as base which are tend to be called as “PROJECTOR PHONES”.

1. Lenovo Smart Cast

The world’s first smartphone that comes with an integrated focus-free laser projector comes from Lenovo. This small phone comes built-in with everything you need for a sleek and smooth presentation display. It features a hardware button to start the Smart Cast.
